UM-UIM Claim Attorneys Serving McAllen, Laredo, Houston, and Other Areas
Insurance companies make money by collecting premiums from policyholders and then, in the event that policy coverage is triggered, by offering quick, low-ball settlements or by denying coverage altogether.
With automobile insurance, and particularly with uninsured and underinsured motorist claims, the story is no different.
At the Law Offices of Tinsman & Sciano, we've been standing up to insurance companies on behalf of people in south Texas since 1970. We are not intimidated by them and we will not hesitate to take your case to court when fair settlement terms cannot be reached through negotiation. To speak with one of our lawyers about an uninsured or underinsured motorist claim — call (877) 220-0867 or contact us online.
Are You Covered?
Although Texas state law requires all automobile owners to carry at least some liability insurance — not everyone does and not everyone carries sufficient insurance. In fact, the dollar value of the coverage on most policies is often exceeded by the medical costs associated with a serious car accident.
Because of that, Texas law also requires insurance companies to offer every policyholder a minimum of $30,000 worth of uninsured and underinsured motorist (UM/UIM) coverage. You can explicitly refuse this coverage but generally speaking, most people do not. In fact, it is wise to purchase as much UM/UIM coverage as you can afford.
Our Litigation Experience Is a Tremendous Asset
The ways in which Texas' automobile insurance laws have been written, interpreted and applied by the courts provide the insurance industry with no incentive to pay UM/UIM benefits in a timely fashion. Because of that — it has become increasingly difficult to settle uninsured and underinsured motorist claims without going to trial.
In this respect, you are in good hands at our firm. Our attorneys have well over 120 years of combined litigation experience to draw from — much of which was gained in cases involving insurance company defendants. Because insurers, with only minimal effort and investigation, can see that our firm is not only willing to take cases to trial but that we have had a great deal of litigation success — we are often able to secure the benefits our clients deserve without having to push the case that far.
